Default Anyone do Food logging in GB?

I don't myself, not for the longest time anyway...

So, I find myself asking, "What do the grams units refer to?"

I can only guess that this is meant to be used for carbohydrate grams. What do others think though? Mostly so I can document it correctly...

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff;

I use the food logging after every meal. I input carbs in grams. I only have one entry in my food log and that is "Carbs (grams)".

Thanks for the brain spark, Danny!

I hadn't previously thought of that, and following that theme a user might also add Fat and Protein, having a food list like:

Carbs (grams)
Fat (grams)
Protein (grams)

...
I can document it appropriately now. Of course, the feature is flexible and can be used like "Yogurt (grams)" and so forth. That's what I used to do ages ago, but the more universal Carbs, Fat, and Protein strikes me as more useful. Hmmm...

Thanks again,
Jeff

You are exactley right my friend, those are the big three. However, I have found that it is much easier, for me, to use a third party App to calculate and log those numbers. I just log the carbs, since that is what I use to calculate my bolus injections. This method appears to be working very well, for me, but as always, other opinions may vary.

I've been logging my food in the 'yoghurt (grams)' way. Since diagnosis 6 weeks ago i've logged every bit of food i've eaten. I guess i'm using it as a way to see an overview of my diet and also track my carbs for bolus dosing. It would be great if we could fix a default value to each food item entered, so i don't have to look it up everytime, but i think this has been mentioned before and hopefully will appear in the next major update

The Carbs and Cals app will be out very soon. This is exactly what i need and will come in very useful. It will probably be the only app available with a UK foods database.

That looks like a very good app. Basically I have that, but I have to use two (2) seperate apps to get the information. One app that does it all would be nice.

I love the idea of having just one category of "Carbs"! Up until now I've been logging individual foods and have really not been using Glucose Buddy because of how annoying doing so is. When I look at my logs I wan to see trends such as how many carbs I'm eating each meal/day, not necessarily every single thing I eat.

It would be nice if there was an option for "simple" or "complex" tracking of foods -- that way I could just enter carbs without having to go select a fake food item ("Carbs"). It would also be nice if each tab along the top (Glucose, Meds, Food, Activity) could have the entry field for those respective items highlighted by default so you could just tap the tab and start entering.

Smile Carb field

Hi there, I just started using this yesterday. I put my total carb count for the meal, then under comments I put what I ate, that way if I have a pattern of highs I can see what food correlates..maybe I will have one common one.

To have a food nutritional search included in this app would be great though. I have an android and use another app for that.

Firstly, what a great app! Only been injecting for a few weeks and I can see how this could be my one stop shop with a little development. I'd happily pay a little more for the full monty, all-in-one application if it existed.

All comments look most appropriate here, and hopefully useful and listened to.

I have a couple of things (suggestions / gripes / improvements?):

- The keyboard that comes up for typing in foods is the one for email addresses, with @ and .com etc. Could that easily be changed to be the normal qwerty keyboard?

- No spellcheck on any typing? Can that be tapped into?

- Yes, logging whole meals rather than individual foods would be so helpful. Even including "my foods" which the user could save with a stored carb value would be great. So that each time a similar meal comes up it can just be added from the menu (pardon the pun!) Working out the carbs for each entry can get pretty tiresome and repetitive ...

I must confess only using it for a few days now, I was logging my total grams eaten (duh!!) and I was wondering how on earth that could be useful to me... Now I see....

Otherwise, what a fantastic app! Nice one, thank you!
